About Maker Faire Pittsburgh:

Maker Faire is a community-based learning event that inspires everyone to become a maker! The Faire features technology, art, craft, electric vehicles, and other projects created by makers themselves, including student projects, robotics, fashion, 3D printers and CNC mills, textile arts and crafts, home energy monitoring, rockets and R/C toys, sustainability, green tech, radios, vintage computers and game systems, biology/biotech and chemistry projects, puppets, kites, bicycles, unusual tools or machines and more.

In addition to displays and exhibits, Maker Faire Pittsburgh will feature special performances, speakers, demonstrations and workshops featuring 3D printing, laser cutting, microcontrollers, silk screening… and so much more.

Maker Faire Pittsburgh will be located in the Historic Northside at Buhl Community Park, Nova Place, and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

About Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh:

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh is a place that delights and inspires children, where they can take off on fantastic flights of imagination daily and return to earth to ink a silkscreen and build and tinker with old and new technologies and cutting-edge media. With 80,000 square feet of space, the Museum welcomes more than 275,000 visitors annually and provides “real stuff” experiences for play, learning and fun. The Museum’s permanent exhibit MAKESHOP® was built in 2011 to create a space for children and families to make, play and design using the same materials, tools and processes used by professional artists, builders, programmers and creators of all kinds. The Museum’s maker-focused initiatives include serving as a Maker Corps site for the Maker Education Initiative, Mobile MAKESHOP, Youth Maker workshops, MAKEnight (21+) events and presenting the Pittsburgh Mini Maker Faire from 2011-2013.

For over 7 years HackPGH has been a staple in the Making Community of Pittsburgh. They are a non-profit, community-based workshop that allows members to come together and share skills & tools to pursue creative projects. Their focus is on collaboration, education, and community outreach.

The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA, and in 2016 celebrated its eleventh annual show with some 1,300 makers and 150,000 people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in five years to 900+ makers and 90,000 attendees. Thirty-one larger scale Maker Faires occur in cities around the world—Detroit, Atlanta, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, and Shenzhen to name a few— and over 150 community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires are now being produced in the United States and in 34 other countries around the world.
