GreekGadgetGuru started in 2008 as a hobby of mine in high school. I was bored of playing video games and watching superhero movie because it wasn't interactive enough. The eventually the movie would end and string you along to the sequel and next year a new game would emerge to capture the interest for the next generation thus discounting all of my "merit" earned. I needed to find a platform where my work and efforts could be recognized on a "leader board" that wouldn't be outdated as well as serve as a form of expression and self fulfillment. I wanted a skillset that I could master overtime and proudly look back on the time spent to get there.
Inspired by video games, movies, and comics I decided to try my hand at bringing these gadgets to life. I was tired of waiting around for someone else to do it and I hoped that I would someday contribute my creative talents to make a positive impact on the world.
What does it take to become a superhero? Batman is a prime example. Someone who wanted to stand for something greater, but who has a billion dollar company to fund their equipment?
I have no plans to fight crime, but one of the silent killers is self doubt...failure disease. The feedback loop that you can't do something, or that it is impossible.
Making, tinkering, whatever you want to call it, isn't fostered enough in today's education. We are told to get an education, and then get a job and come up with ideas that make lots of money. There is very rarely a "maker" stage that is encouraged with today's fast paced world and I think that it is trampling the spirit of creative thinkers.
I hope that through my journey as a maker, I may inspire others to follow their dreams and passions and create something of meaning for themselves and others to enjoy.
Currently on YouTube I have over 353K subscribers, many of which are young makers. Collectively my videos have been viewed over 38 Million times all over the world. I bring superhero gadgets to life through the "maker" mentality - combining 3D printing, laser / water jet cutting, mechanical design, and electronic circuitry - and inspire others to do the same.
I will have a display of my gadgets from the majority of my latest videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5ykQUg2Qq0
