The members of the South Hills Model Railroad Club have built and maintain a large modular HO train layout. The layout can be assembled in a number of ways but is normally put together as a large loop approximately 30 feet x 15 feet. It is built using the Free-mo standard (see: http://www.free-mo.org/ ) which allows us to hook our modules up to those belonging to other clubs or individuals. Each member of the club builds one or more modules and we set up the layout at many community and train related events. Videos and details about some of the set ups are here: http://shmrrc.org/ see the first three items under "links" Most of the modules are complete and have detailed scenery and buildings. Some are sill "under construction" which allows visitors to see the evolution of the layout. The trains operate using a digital control system called DCC. This allows multiple trains to run independently on the same track. If we are invited to participate in the Faire we would need space indoors and access to electrical power.
