Youth hosts will broadcast live from Maker Faire Pittsburgh on Youth Express, the 24/7 Internet radio station featuring original youth writing, music and conversation from Pittsburgh-area youth. Broadcasting at youthexpress.org and accessible on any smartphone, computer or connected car using the free TuneIn, Simple Radio or aHa app, our live broadcast will feature interviews with makers, reflections from youth attending the festival and the sounds of Maker Faire Pittsburgh -- with the immediacy and intimacy that radiuo alone can bring. Attendees can visit, learn about radio and webcasting, and join us on the radio!
SLB is a non-profit organization. Founded in 1978 with studios co-located in the Children’;s Museum of Pittsburgh, our staff of ten uses radio and audio to encourage, amplify, share, and validate the voices, ideas, and stories of youth and other people whose voices are often marginalized. We believe in radio and audio because these technologies enable a sense of intimacy and engagement often lacking in other media, while also promoting opportunities for privacy, equal access, and sharpening important life skills (e.g., speaking and listening, creative and critical thinking, respect for others, confidence and cooperation, and technical curiosity).
